Snoop Dogg and his son, Cordell Broadus, are officially launching Death Row Games.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the new arm of Death Row Records will focus on giving\u00a0minority creators and artists a platform to develop and publish for Fortnite<\/em>\u00a0using the game’s Unreal Editor.\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve been creating games, and none of them has been published anything on a huge scale, but on a very amateur level,\u201d Broadus told AFROTECH<\/em>. \u201cWe\u2019ve been around games for the last five to six years. And Snoop, he\u2019s done mobile games. A few of them in the past five to six years in apps and stuff like that. So we\u2019ve always had the mindset of building it on our own.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cWe felt like let\u2019s really put resources into building Death Row Games and making a home for diverse creators in the gaming ecosystem and be a part of the narrative, the storytelling of what the next game should be looking like. And I keep saying \u2018show representation of the culture in these sectors,\u2019 versus us just being the talent. We wanted to make sure that we\u2019re part of the decision that\u2019s being made and more importantly tell these stories from diverse creators and focus on creatives in underserved communities.\u201d<\/p>\n The 26-year-old also opened up about working closely with his father, \u201cI think it\u2019s dope for a father and a son to be working together for one, and for two he\u2019s 51 years old. So he may be out of touch with some of these things.” He continued, “And I\u2019m always there to keep him up to speed and translate information to him in a tone that he can understand. I think that\u2019s more important\u2026 but just as much as I\u2019m giving him game he\u2019s given me the keys to make these decisions with a IP as big as his.\u201d<\/p>\n Broadus also revealed that he’s been hired by the estate of Tupac Shakur, amongst others, to do work. “I\u2019m just going with my gut and checking the pulse of the culture,” he shared. “It\u2019s just dope to see that we both can empower each other on new information, and he can empower me on just giving me access to you, all his resources, and his IP.\u201d<\/p>\n
