Brainteasers are a great form of exercise for the brain and some experts believe they could help keep the brain healthier for longer and reduce someone\u2019s risk of dementia in the future.<\/p>\n
This doesn\u2019t mean doing a brainteaser like this one will stop someone from developing the disease, other factors can have a much greater impact, but it could contribute in a small way as cases rise across the UK and risk factors are better understood.<\/p>\n
According to a recent report published in the British Medical Journal, there are 11 risk factors that can increase or decrease someone\u2019s risk of dementia.<\/p>\n
The risk factors are age, education, a history of diabetes, a history of depression, being male, living alone, a history of stroke, a parental history of dementia, and levels of deprivation.<\/p>\n
Speaking about the risk factors, associate professor at the University of Oxford Sana Suri told the Guardian: \u201cThe importance of each risk factor varies and given that some of the factors included in the score can be modified or treated, there are things we can all do to help reduce our risk of dementia.\u201d<\/p>\n
