BRITS are facing wintry spells with some snow possible after a string of warm days last week.
Snow showers fell on the East coast early yesterday and more could hit northern Scotland.
Forecasters say it will be “on the chilly side for many” as the UK moves into April.
As we enter April, most of the country should be cloudy and temperatures in the high single figures.
Met Office spokesman Oli Claydon said most areas would be “only just below” the March average of 8.8C.
He said: "There will still be some showers on the east coast through today but the freezing level has gone up in altitude quite considerably, so they will be falling as rain.
"There has been a little bit of snow this morning in the early hours but we are now really into rain showers along the east coast rather than snow – except for the much higher ground in the far north of Scotland."
Temperatures are set to rise by Saturday, with London seeing 13C (55F) and Nottingham 12C (54F).
However, unsettled conditions in the north are likely to make their way down south.
The northwest of England is expected to see the worst of this weather with heavy rain and strong winds. The southeast is expected to stay the driest and brightest.
