On-duty cop probed after ‘deliberately coughing’ on furious woman in housing estate – The Sun

A POLICE sergeant is under investigation after he was caught on camera deliberately coughing at a woman in a housing complex.

Video shared on social media shows the officer walking toward the woman, who was filming from a distance, then coughing open-mouthed without wearing a face mask moments before he approaches her.

"Get the f**k out of here," the woman shooting the footage says as the cop passes by her.

"What the f**k is wrong with him? Trying to come through here coughing like that s**t is cute."

The cop coughs several more times while passing by at least two other people who are standing on the grass along a walkway at the housing complex in Maryland, causing an uproar.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison slammed the officer's behavior on Tuesday and said the sergeant is being investigated by the department's Bureau of Public Integrity.

"After watching the full video, in its entirety, it is not only disturbing, but incomprehensible, especially considering the high-level of strong and clear guidance that we have provided from the beginning, regarding COVID-19," he said.

"Members are always expected to be sensitive and professional to the community, but what we saw in the video is alarming because this pandemic is affecting lives not only nationally, worldwide, but right here in our own police department."

At least 10 members – eight officers and two civilians – of the Baltimore Police Department have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the New York Post.

More than 100 others remain self-quarantined as of Monday, the department told the newspaper.

Over 10,000 in the US have died from the virus as of Wednesday, with 103 of those deaths occurring in Maryland.
