Dramatic video captured the moment a terrified young girl was rescued off the coast of Wales after the rubber dinghy she was on floated out to sea.
The youngster — believed to be 8 years old – had been floating on the dinghy, which was attached to a rope held by a relative, but strong winds in Rhyl pushed it about a half-mile out to sea on Monday, The Sun reported.
“It was very lucky that the crew was in the area, attending another call. We were very quickly on the scene,” Rhyl Lifeboat Station spokesman Paul Frost told the news outlet.
The chilling footage shows members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution racing toward the girl, who is seen shouting that she was scared and wanted to “get out.”
Moments later, the rescuers pluck the sobbing girl to safety and reassure her that she would soon be reunited with her family.
Frost said “the dinghy was quickly being blown out to sea” by the offshore wind as the tide was going out.
“She did the right thing by staying in the dinghy, and not trying to swim to shore,” he said.
“She was crying when the crew found her, and they took her back to shore to her family. No medical help was needed — she was just a little bit shaken,” Frost added.
