Why are Chloe and Charity feuding in Emmerdale? | The Sun

TENSIONS boiled over this week in the Dales as Chloe Harris acted out in revenge against Charity Dingle.

Both Emmerdale women have been at each other's throats for several months. Here's what you need to know about their feud.

Who are Charity Dingle and Chloe Harris in Emmerdale?

The eponymous ITV village has been rocked by Chloe Harris and Charity Dingle's ongoing love triangle.

And after many ups and downs, viewers of the Yorkshire-based program are keen to know what's next in store for them.

The storyline was one of the biggest plots yet for Chloe, who is played by Jessie Elland, and seems to have brought her full circle as she has gone from befriending the Dingles to feuding with them.

Chloe was initially introduced to soap fans in August, 2021, after she was contacted by Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).

Sarah found it important to get to know Chloe as she'd received her sister Gemma Harris' heart during a life-saving transplant.

Slowly but surely, both girls bonded but Sarah's uncle Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) eventually caught Chloe's eye and the pair went on to date.

During her relationship with Noah, Chloe revealed that her father was a dangerous criminal as well as a controlling father who refused to let her mingle with any boys.

In early 2022, however, Chloe found her freedom in the Dales as she cheated on Noah with Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and after jumping into bed with Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), she slept with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).

After finding out she was pregnant, Chloe was told by Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) – who had been hired by her father to watch over her – the truth about her parentage.

Chloe was revealed to have been adopted after Kerry secretly gave birth to her, making her Amy Wyatt's long-lost biological sister.

Charity, on the other hand, is a well-known resident of the Dales as she first rocked up the village in late March, 2000.

Throughout her time in Emmerdale, Charity was involved in a plethora of dramatic storylines which included divorce, betrayal, pregnancies and a stint in prison.

In recent years, Charity seemed to have settled down as she took charge of business in The Woolpack in early 2022 with her son Ryan Stocks.

She even had plans to spend the rest of her life with Mackenzie Boyd, with whom she cheated on former fiancée Vanessa Woodfield.

Unfortunately for her, all of her plans were turned on their head when Mackenzie betrayed her with Chloe, as mentioned above.

What happened between Chloe and Charity in Emmerdale?

After cheating on Noah with Jacob, Chloe decided to enjoy her youth by giving Nate a chance, but he decided against pursuing anything with her.

This led her straight to Mackenzie Boyd who, at the time, was still involved with Charity.

Viewers will recall that, prior to his one night stand with Chloe, Mackenzie had been over the moon to find out that Charity was pregnant with their first child.

Unfortunately, the pregnancy was ectopic and Charity had to terminate it.

While she wanted to put the ordeal behind her and never think about children again, Mackenzie was keen to become a father and this caused a rift between the lovebirds.

An argument led to what Mackenzie believed to be a breakup and when Chloe suggested they booked a hotel room, he went along with it.

As viewers will then remember, Mackenzie and Charity made up but he neglected to tell her about his tryst with Chloe.

But when Chloe revealed that she was pregnant, Mackenzie knew his time of secrecy was running out.

Despite this, Chloe and him both agreed to keep things under wraps and she was even welcomed to move in by Charity who was feeling guilty about her son Noah stalking her.

Charity supported Chloe throughout her pregnancy, although the guilt was weighing heavy on both the latter and Mackenzie.

The fiery redhead gave birth to a son named Reuben just as Mackenzie and Charity tied the knot in explosive scenes.

And while Mackenzie kept Reuben's parentage a secret with Chloe, he was forced to come clean when the new-born suffered from bacterial meningitis and Charity caught him in hospital feeling very emotional.

Charity asked for an immediate divorce while Mackenzie and Chloe slowly grew closer, prompting them to embark on an official relationship.

What did Chloe Harris do in Emmerdale?

Mackenzie was seemingly ready to commit to both Chloe and Reuben.

But when he found out that Charity was healing from their love triangle by sleeping with her own cousin Caleb Milligan (Will Ash), Mack was clearly unsettled.

This prompted Chloe to give him an ultimatum – he had to choose between her or Charity.

Mack seemed to have made up his mind when he remained by Chloe's side and the pair even got engaged but his feelings for Charity reared back up as the pair slept together behind the young mother's back.

Chloe eventually found out Mackenzie cheated on her and came up with a plan for revenge.

Unfortunately, this ended in the trio getting involved in a horrific car crash which left their vehicle dangerously balancing on a clifftop.

Mackenzie had the choice to save either Chloe, the mother of his child, of Charity and he chose the latter, thus leaving his own fiancée to crash and die.

However, in a surprising twist, Chloe survived and was brought out of a deep coma after several days.

While she maintained she remembered nothing, she decided to let Mackenzie off the hook as she was convinced he still loved her.

Sadly, little did she know that Mackenzie was slowly coming to terms with the fact that he was in love with Charity all along.

The pair decided it was time for them to forget the past and get back together, prompting Mackenzie to break up with Chloe in recent scenes of the long-running program.

Chloe initially kept her cool but she was unable to keep doing so when she spotted Mackenzie in a loving embrace with Charity.

Feeling hurt and betrayed, Chloe publicly slapped Charity on Main Street before making the decision to leave the village for France with Reuben in an attempt to punish Mackenzie for his lies.

Will Charity, Chloe and Mackenzie ever find it in them to resolve their issues?

Will Mackenzie ever see Reuben again?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
