Wheel of Fortune host quips ‘don’t do it’ as player breaks protocol

Wheel of Fortune: Pat Sajak tells player ‘don’t ever do it again’

ABC’s beloved game show Wheel of Fortune returned to screens on Monday with a familiar face, as Christian Dixie played to win a whopping $64,000.

However, during the Spin the Wheel round of the competition, host Pat Sajak scolded the contestant after Christian overstepped the boundary.

The Fort Wayne native had already bagged $19,300 and was on track to defeat fellow players Caitlin Burke & Blair Davis.

As a result, Christian was fast-tracked to the bonus round where he chose the puzzle category, Phrase.

During the segment, he spun the infamous wheel to get his letters, however, Christian failed to wait for Pat to hand him the card and instead reached for it himself.

Pat was taken aback by Christian’s blunder as they both awkwardly reached for the card.

Although the contestant quickly apologised for overstepping, Pat stated: “In fairness, we used to do it that way, the player would pick out the thing.”

The 76-year-old then turned to the contestant, he asked: “So he’s reverting to that, right?”

As Christian responded: “Yep,” Pat hit back: “But don’t ever do it again.”

While they walked to the next segment of the game show the studio audience chuckled nervously, which prompted to Christian add: “Or take over your spot as host.”

Despite his error, Christian was very familiar with Wheel of Fortune as he was a returning player.

The FedEx employee previously appeared on the show in 2020 and took home the grand prize of $65,000.

At the time, he would have been allowed to reach for the card but the rules have since changed.

After he received his starting letters R, S, T, L, N, E, Christian was able to guess the phrase ‘pay them a visit’ correctly and won a brand new Infiniti Q50.

Christian continued to shock viewers as he knocked his fellow contestant out of the game and won the game show for a second time.

As well as a brand-new car and a cruise to the south pacific, he also walked away with $64,615.

Wheel of Fortune continues weeknights on ABC in the USA.
