This Mornings Phillip Schofield caught checking the weather on his phone in on-air blunder

Phillip Schofield was caught on his phone in an on-air blunder in This Morning. The host had been checking the weather on his phone, while the hit ITV show aired a pre-recorded segment about women’s fashion.

Phil's co-host Holly Willoughby pointed out the blunder, as Phillip broke into a fit of laughter when the camera panned back to the pair in the studio following the end of the filmed segment.

As Phillip erupted into a wheezy laugh, Holly asked: “Did you just get busted for looking at the weather?” The 59-year-old responded through fits of laughter: “I just got so busted.”

Holly then pointed to the floor and told viewers: “If you look down there, he’s actually flicking and kicking his phone across the floor.”

Phillip continued to smile as he echoed Holly’s words that his phone was on the floor and he was kicking it out of shot from the cameras.

The 40-year-old presenter then admitted that Phillip might not have found the section useful as it was about a ladies fashion item, so there “wasn’t much for you at that point.”

However, Phil went on to admit that he not only checked the weather, but, after seeing the freezing temperatures outside, he also decided to use the time to turn his heating on at home.

Through another bout of laughter, Phillip explained: “Yeah, well, also, I looked at the weather and thought, 'Oh my God! I bet it’s cold, I’ll turn the heating on."

He added: “So, I was turning the heating on and I said, as it finished, ‘Oh my God, it’s only 12 degrees in the conservatory.’”

Holly fell back on the sofa in a fit of laughter too on hearing the full details of Phillip’s on-air blunder.

In the same show, Phillip Schofield burst into laughter at a topical Christmas cracker joke that poked fun at Piers Morgan’s dramatic exit from Good Morning Britain in March.

Phillip read: “What’s Piers Morgan’s favourite Christmas song?”

He paused, before singing the response “Walking off on Air” to the festive song Walking in the Air from the animated film, The Snowman.

Phillip broke into laughter after reading the punch line, as Vanessa Feltz exclaimed: “Oh, perfect!”

The remote guest, Gyles Brandreth, also let out a laugh and gave Phillip a huge thumbs up.

Holly agreed, saying: “Shall we end on that one? I think we’ve peaked!”

She then started laughing along with her co-hosts and guests and added: “Morning Piers.”
