Good Morning Britain has seen a number of stand-in hosts in recent weeks as Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid continue to spend some time away from the show for a much-needed summer break. However, after it was announced Susanna was set to return on September 1, she warned a viewer to “brace himself,” after they told her not to “rush back” to the programme in the coming weeks.

Susanna has been away from the show since the mid-July in order to have a well-deserved rest from the early morning show.

Yesterday, the star hit back at a viewer on Twitter who urged her not to “rush back” to her presenting duties.

The user said: “It’s been great on GMB without you and Morgan’s constant sniping at everything the government does. DON’T RUSH BACK.”

Susanna hit back at the viewer, warning him: “Back on September 1st. BRACE YOURSELF GRAHAM.”

The tweet soon racked up thousands of likes in support of the presenter’s response as she showed she was unfazed by the viewer.

One viewer replied: “I have missed you so much Susanna &  Piers – the best duo. The mornings just haven’t been the same. I hope you’ve had a wonderful break, despite these crazy times.

“Yes, trolls are still here but there are SO many more of us who think you’re great. So happy you’ll be back soon x.”

Another noted: “I don’t think people like it that you and Piers have the guts to say what the rest of the country is thinking. More media outlets should be doing the same as you guys.”

A third commented: “Why do people have to be so mean. Wow.”

“There will always be a Graham somewhere, just do you, that’s plenty good enough for the rest of us, look forward to seeing you again in September keeping the Morgan ego at bay,” shared a fourth.

“Will be brilliant to have you back but could you put Piers Morgan in quarantine for a year or two. Hope the GCSE results went well?” said another.

Despite the fact Susanna will be back on-screen in just over a week, it’s not known who she will be sitting alongside.

Piers Morgan’s return has been thrown into doubt after an on-screen admission was made earlier today.

This morning’s instalment saw stand-in Alex Beresford announce Piers may take “extend” his holiday from the show.

The weather presenter told his co-host, Kate Garraway, he had spoken to Piers earlier this week.

Alex said: “He reached out and told me I was absolutely brilliant and he may take an extended holiday.

“He might not even come back on the first of September, so who knows,” confessed the host.

Kate also revealed she would be absent from the news desk next week as she helps her children prepare to go back to school.

“I’m actually not here next week, I’m off helping Billy get sorted for secondary school, Darcey as well gets into school and also Derek – to look after things on that.”

She thanked the GMB team, continuing: “I just want to say thank you to all of you for being absolutely brilliant since I’ve come back through challenging times

“Everybody here, you and Ben and Adil and all the people on and off-screen, you’ve been amazing.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
