Strictlys Angela Scanlon admits shes terrified of live TV ahead of launch

Angela Scanlon gives Strictly Come Dancing update

Angela Scanlon will soon be taking to the dancefloor when Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next month.

The 39-year-old is no stranger to live television, having hosted The One Show and her own Sunday morning BBC Radio Two programme.

However, the seasoned broadcaster admitted she’s “terrified” of being live on-air during a candid interview.

Speaking to The Sunday Post, Angela said: “I love live telly, like The One Show, because it’s somewhere I’m comfortable but also terrified, which is a good zone for me.

“Anything that keeps me busy, you know? That’s the key.”

During the interview from 2020, Angela opened up about balancing motherhood with her career.

Angela’s daughters are Ruby Ellen, five, and one-year-old Marnie who she shares with her husband Roy Horgan.

“In terms of juggling, it’s constant, it’s hard, and it’s exhausting at times,” Angela shared.

“But I also feel wildly fortunate that I’m able to continue working and doing a job that I love when so many people are under pressure.”

“I try to balance those feelings of being a bit overwhelmed and knackered with saying to myself, ‘OK, have a chat with yourself, love.'”

Angela, who hosts her own show Ask Me Anything on RTÉ, is one of the favourites to be crowned this year’s Strictly winner, according to the bookmakers.

The Irish presenter has seen her odds slashed to just 7/2, putting her at the head of the betting, alongside EastEnders’ star Bobby Brazier.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Angela Scanlon will likely head into the upcoming series of Strictly as the most popular pick with punters to go all the way.

“Our traders have already slashed her odds considerably, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see her priced even shorter by the time she takes to the dancefloor.”

Angela will be competing against Les Dennis, Angela Rippon, Zara McDermott and Ellie Leach.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September.
