Spoilers: Sam begs Lydia to have Huntington's test in Emmerdale lockdown episode

The first of Emmerdale’s six special lockdown episodes centred around Sam and Lydia Dingle (James Hooton and Karen Blick), as the pair isolated together, but emotions were running high and there were revelations aplenty.

With lockdown having commenced, Sam and Lydia thought about how best to spend their time together.

Initially, Sam continued to go out to work, while Lydia remained at home, but as the episode progressed, so did time in lockdown, and he was furloughed — meaning that he didn’t have to leave the house much at all.

Meanwhile, Lydia found herself getting bored, and conflict soon ensued when Sam reiterated that he didn’t like the thought of her going outside.

However, getting fed up of bangers and mash for tea every night, Lydia ordered a click-and-collect — something which left Sam fuming.

Animosity ensued, as he revealed that he fears for her health amid the pandemic, given that she never had the test for Huntington’s Disease.

Lydia was emotional after her husband’s outburst, but she didn’t hold a grudge, as she reminded him that he might be her husband, but he doesn’t own her.

As the days rolled on, she decided to keep a journal, but as she looked for a blank sheet of paper, she located a back-up best man speech Samson (Sam Hall) had written prior to his dad’s wedding.

Lydia read it aloud, and the pair of them became rather emotional, but Lydia burst into tears when — via the speech — she discovered how much Samson loves her.

As a result, Sam begged Lydia to get the Huntington’s test — but will she do so?

Emmerdale continues Wednesday 10 June at 7pm on ITV.
