Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have confessed that the coronavirus pandemic has left them so rattled that their jobs hosting This Morning have left them fighting back tears.
The ITV stars said that the past year has forced them to test their limits as even the lighthearted Spin to Win competition they host daily has left them feeling emotional.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, the dynamic duo said that the crisis had brought them closer together and made their friendship stronger than ever.
Phillip, 59, admitted his nerves were spent and that he has "got to be quite careful" as they are "on the brink of tears all the time" so it's quite easy for them to want to cry on the show.
He said: "When a Spin to Win winner says, 'Oh my God, you’ve been amazing. I’ve entered since the start', that kind of thing.
"You’ve got to be quite careful because I think we’re all on the edge, you could cry at the drop of a hat.
"It’s so hard sometimes and you think, 'You have to centre yourself'. We are all on the brink of tears all the time, so it doesn’t take much to push."
Phillip said that the pandemic had made him "appreciate the small things" and that once he can get them back he doesn't think he will ever take them for granted again.
He went on to say international travel wasn't something he was particularly missing, but that he wants to be able to spend time in his garden with his friends.
Holly, 40, chipped in saying that she has "learnt so much" throughout lockdown and that she thinks that "all generations are going through it."
This Morning has scored its highest ratings in 19 years recently as figures shot up by almost 50%.
Over 10 million people tuned in as lockdown began in 2020 with the new reality bringing so many to join Phillip and Holly each morning.
The two ITV stars have said that their viewers and their reactions to the show had been a source of strength to them both over the past year.

Holly said that she had been told by viewers that her and her best friend Phillip were "the nation’s comfort blanket".
While Phillip added: "The viewers were our comfort blanket too. I mean we’re lucky because of the job that we do with that extended family, so you have support from viewers."
