Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) finally got back on track in Friday’s (August 18) episode of Emmerdale after previously clashing.
The best pals haven’t been on the same page this week due to Marlon being upset over Paddy’s comments surrouding his driving.
Marlon finally decided to take the plunge in Thursday’s (August 17) edition of the ITV soap and get behind the wheel of a specially adapted car.
The beloved character hasn’t driven since his stroke and understandably, he was anxious over the prospect of being given the responsibility again.
Marlon’s first drive featured Rhona (Zoe Henry) in the passenger seat. She was supportive but internally, Marlon was struggling with the changes. The car is built differently to assist with the fact Marlon still has mobility issues, so it isn’t as simple as getting on a bike after not riding one for a while.
Rhona and Mary (Louise Jameson) were there for Marlon and so was Paddy to some extent, but he approached the situation with banter and even pretended to be hit by Marlon as he pulled up on the drive.
This was addressed in tonight’s episode, as Marlon sat down with Paddy and explained his worries over driving and the fact he’s terrified about having another stroke behind the wheel.
Clearing the air, Paddy apologised and told Marlon that he’ll be there tonight for a drive and if he doesn’t want to go, they’ll do it tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day.
It was a touching moment as Paddy said to Marlon that he was there when he went through his mental health problems, so now it’s his turn to be there for him.
