Ozark on Netflix: What is Ozark about? Inside the Netflix drama

Netflix subscribers have been waiting two years for the third season of Ozark which first came onto our screens back in 2017 and then returned the following year. But the wait came to an end on Friday, March 27, as its latest series was released on the streaming service. So what is it about Ozark which has made it an instant classic?

Ozark’s cast is led by actor Jason Bateman and actress Laura Linney who are in all three seasons of the gripping Netflix drama.
Bateman has been in a plethora of movies including Game Night, Horrible Bosses, Juno, The Change-Up and Identify Thief.
He is normally associated with more comedic roles but he is currently starring in the television adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider on Sky One.
Bateman also worked as a producer on The Outsider and has worked as a director and executive producer on all three series of Ozark.

Actress Linney has been in a number of memorable movies such as Nocturnal Animals, Sully, Mystic River and The Truman Show.

Bateman and Linney are at the heart of the story of Ozark right from the get-go which is filled with unexpected plot twists to keep you engrossed.

What is Ozark on Netflix about?

The story initially begins with Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), a financial planner relocating his family, wife Wendy (Laura Linney) and their two children, from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks in Missouri.
They make the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong and they have to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug cartel in a bid to keep the family safe.
Marty must continue to launder money in the Ozarks so he can repay the threatening drug dealers.
The family does so by investing in businesses in Missouri and laundering the money through them but they are continually faced with problems

During their time living in the Ozarks, Marty and Wendy become entangled with local criminals who make the matters worse.
After getting on the wrong side of dangerous families in Ozark including the Snells and the Langmores, the family get in way above their heads as they try to keep their money laundering business afloat while staying out of danger.
Their own relationship is also put to the test as they need to work together to keep it a secret from the FBI but still do everything the cartel tells them to.

The events of season three take place six months after Cade Langmore (Trevor Long) was shot dead soon after heading out of town with money given to him by Wendy which quickly persuaded him to leave.
His killer was not revealed but it seemed it could have been done on Wendy’s behalf to get rid of him once and for all.
