Olivia Attwood defends Love Island bosses and says show is more diverse than before

Hey guys! It's Olivia Attwood here and I'm so excited to be sharing my thoughts on this year's Love Island with you all. I think the cast looks like a really strong bunch, I'm quite impressed. I think in their opening interviews and VTs there's a lot of personality there. I feel really good about it.

I think Brad McClelland is really cute, I love that he lives with his nan. I think he might be a bit of a heartthrob. I think all of the girls seem to be quite sassy, I think they've all got a lot about them, I'm really impressed.

I think it's a bit of a risqué thing for Chloe Burrows to say she drunk calls her married colleague, but I think she might have said it to make an impact and get a bit of reaction early on. You can't say that and not expect people to not get wound up, so maybe she's a bit of a wind-up merchant and is somebody who'll go in there and mix it up a bit.

I think Chloe and Brad would be really good together, they look like Barbie and Ken! I think Shannon Singh would look good with any of the boys aesthetically, it depends on personality because people might not gel at all. Sometimes it's the most unlikely pairings that work. The people you would go for in the outside world are sometimes the people that you don't gel with in the villa, it's a strange, altered sense of reality.

I understand Shannon's thoughts behind deleting her OnlyFans but the pictures are probably already out there. OnlyFans isn't the secure network that people think it is, people can take the photos off there. I hope it's not too late for her!

My social media was already quite vetted because I'd been working with energy drink companies and different brands for modelling and they, if anything, were more strict about my social media than Love Island were. I knew mine was pretty safe but I did have a quick glance to make sure there wasn't anything too risqué.

I also think it's great that people can see Hugo Hammond and feel represented by watching the show to see somebody who's had adversity in their life.

I think, if you compare it to other series, I feel like the cast is a bit more diverse. I think every series becomes more diverse, It is heading in the right direction, I don't think it's going the other way.

I feel like the producers are in a really hard situation because they can only choose from the people who apply so they are limited, they can't force people to go in. There's also a lot of things you have to get past to get on the show like psych tests and health tests, they can't just pick people off the street. It's not an easy job.

The islanders will basically be in their own lockdown right now. I was in a villa with a chaperone who works for ITV in a remote place on the island. They'll be laying low so they don't run into anybody who might recognise them. They might have a bit more freedom this year though as Majorca will be quiet at the moment. When I was in lockdown it was prime holiday season and we had to make sure I wasn't seen. It's pretty boring, to be honest. It feels like a really long time, I was in there for 10 days.

You have a lot of time with your own thoughts and some of them might be second guessing their decision to go in. I woke up every morning and thought, 'Oh God, I don't know if I want to do this'. When you're there for that extended period of time and you don't have your phone, you can't talk to your family, it gives you a chance to overthink what you're doing, it was really stressful.

I was really naughty and kept escaping from my chaperone and running to the shop to buy fags and alcohol, I was driving her crazy and always sneaking off! We would go to the beach, sunbathe, go and get food, it's just like being on holiday but without the partying – although I did try to convince her! Although I kept sneaking out, I didn't bump into anybody else from the villa. You're spread out so far around the island.

They won't officially know that the public know who they are yet, but you can kind of do the maths by working out when you'll be going into the villa. It's really nerve-wracking to know that everyone knows who you are, and you want to see the reaction but obviously can't. You're also really desperate to know who the other islanders are, what they look like, what they do for jobs. You want to know who you're going to be living with.

The first bunch of girls I met, I remember thinking they all seemed quite young compared to my friends on the outside. On first impression, I didn't think they were going to be my girls, but then Jess Shears came in and she reminded me of my friends. But that's first impressions, now Amber Davies is one of my best friends and she's quite a bit younger than me, it's funny how your first impressions can differ so much.

I'm excited to watch the launch on Monday night, I'm just going to be at home. I wanted to go out and watch it, there's usually some viewing parties but they won't happen this time. Brad loves the show so I have no issues there, I might have a couple of friends over in the garden. Hopefully later in the series we can all get together and watch it because it's so much fun, it's like the reality TV version of football.

I'll speak to you all next week to give you my opinions on what's been going on in the villa for the first week. Make sure you let my know your thoughts on the islanders in the comments section!

Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 28th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
