Naga Munchetty cringes at Charlie as she makes dig at awkward name error

Naga Munchetty tried to shrink herself down as she cringed at co-host Charlie accidentally naming weatherman Matt “Mike” not soon after having corrected the vaccine minister for making the same mistake with himself.

Charlie tried to pay Matt a compliment after finishing his segment, saying: “particularly good hand waving, Mike”

And Naga was quick on the draw as she asked if Charlie had called Matt “Mike”.

Matt agreed that he had made the mistake and as Charlie quietly spoke to himself about making the exact same mistake he told someone off for earlier in the day, Naga looked off screen and tried to make herself smaller in the frame to avoid the awkward situation.

Matt laughed it off and thanked Charlie for the compliment, doing jazz hands as thanks for the kind words about his hand waving skills.

Once composed, Naga said: “You can recover tomorrow, awww, it’s just one of those days Charlie, where names kind of come and go.”

Charlie responded: “I’m just sorry”

Earlier in the day Charlie had called out vaccine minister Nadhim Zahawi for referring to him as “Dan” throughout an interview, most likely getting him confused with BBC Breakfast colleague, Dan Walker.

As the interview came to a close Charlie rounded things off as he said: "Mr Zahawi, thank you very much. I am genuinely not offended, but you haven't called me Charlie throughout the whole interview.

"But these things happen sometimes, it's Charlie and you are Nadhim Zahawi.

"I'm just saying but I'm not offended, so it's okay – we move on. It happens."

As they cut back to the studio and Charlie continued to say it’s an easy mistake to make when dealing with the press so often, Naga had a little dig at Charlie in good fun.

Naga added: "And you know, sometimes you are forgettable. Matt is never forgettable."

The reference to Matt now planting the seed for the coming mistake Charlie would make as Matt responded "I have never been called Mike, no."

Give it a few minutes Matt.
