Eamonn Holmes reveals he's been in agony for a MONTH after injuring his back as he returns to host This Morning

EAMONN Holmes has revealed he's been in agony for a month after injuring his back as he returns to host This Morning.

The TV presenter opened up about his chronic pain on the daytime TV showas he launched a phone-in to help other sufferers.

He told viewers: "About a month ago I did something to my back, I don't know what.

"It could have been getting into a car, getting out of bed, whatever.

"I've got an MRI scan but the problem is everything closes down at Easter so I haven't got it analysed yet.

"What I do know is I can't sleep at night, the pain is worse at night.

"The humbling thing about this is when you go on social media you talk to people about who suffers from this you realise age isn't a barrier, where you live isn't a barrier, how much you earn isn't a barrier… so many of you have this chronic pain from all sorts of different sources."

Eamonn has told how sleep is his "only escape" from the agony he has suffered over the past four weeks.

He went on to tease his wife Ruth Langsford about how she's able to sleep through the night – despite him being wide awake.

Eamonn said: "I'm really glad the intense pain I'm in during the evening at 2am, 3am or 4am never affects you darling.

"Not once do you say, 'are you OK darling, where are you going to, why are you getting out of bed?'

"Nothing disturbs your sleep."

Ruth insisted: "That's because I've spent the whole day looking after you."

Eamonn continued: "It's a gift that you have to be able to sleep unconcerned.

"Whereas I would take a little stool and sit beside you and mop your brow.

"Do you think I should hire a nurse in? Like seriously, someone who is kind and caring."

Ruth laughed: "Are you saying I'm not kind and caring? But yes, do it. Take the pressure off of me."

"Nurse Ratched there," added cheeky Eamonn.
