THE BBC continues its September scheduling shake-up with another double dose of the drama airing this week.
Casualty fans can enjoy a double bill of the hospital drama on Saturday night, just two weeks after the Beeb aired the last double dose of the long-running series.
The first of the two episodes airs at 8:20pm straight after Strictly Come Dancing. Its synopsis reads: “Donna has to deal with an angry Max after her confession, Teddy seeks advice from Gethin, and Stevie keeps a close eye on Faith as she implodes.” The second episode, which begins at 9:10pm, then shifts a bigger focus to Jan and Gethin.
One major storyline that has developed over the past few weeks on Casualty is nurse Faith’s addiction to drugs.
This storyline will come to a head this week as the hospital is rocked when she overdoses.
First, the storyline builds up with tensions between Stevie and Faith escalating as Faith struggles with Stevie’s withdrawal regime.

Faith demands more drugs from Stevie, but she holds firm on reducing Faith’s dosage. Unfortunately, this sends a desperate Faith down a dark path.
Spotting an empty ambulance, Faith tries to steal drugs out of the back, but she is caught red-handed by Iain. With his words that she is beyond hope weighing on her, Faith then contacts her dealer.
However, it’s not long before Faith is back in Holby City Hospital. Her return shocks Stevie, who sees her being brought into the ED after an overdose.
After seeing Faith suffer, Stevie is forced to admit that she can’t give Faith the help she needs.

Elsewhere, Jan and Gethin arrive in Switzerland. This week’s episodes continue the storyline from last week in which Gethin opened up to Jan about his intention to take his own life.
Now in Switzerland and ready to go through with their plan, Jan and Gethin meet with the doctor at the clinic, who sets out their options. Gethin is certain of his decision and declines palliative care.
Per the episode’s official synopsis, Jan and Gethin plan to make the most of the rest of their time together. “Jan fusses over Gethin and plans a day trip for them, all the while ignoring messages from a worried Teddy.
“Later that day, Gethin organises a picnic for them, and they realise that, despite their differences, they can still make each other laugh.”
These sweet scenes take their relationship full circle and plant seeds of doubt in Gethin’s mind – what will he decide to do?
The choice may no longer be his, as a police officer knocks on Jan’s door later. Teddy has called them, desperate to stop what they had planned.
Other storylines coming up this week include Donna accepting her fate of possible prison time and heading to court. But, to her surprise, Ashley speaks positively about her and praises her for helping him. What does Donna’s future hold?
Casualty’s double bill begins at 8:20pm on BBC1.
