FANS are thrilled that Channel 5's All Creatures Great and Small is heading back to the box.

The rebooted show of the hit 70s series first aired in September 2020, and is now returning for a fourth season.

Who is in the cast ofAll Creatures Great and Small?

Nicholas Ralph

Scottish actor Nicholas Ralph plays veterinary surgeon James Herriot in Channel 5's All Creatures Great and Small .

The star has admitted that he enjoys the challenge of having to act a little emotional in certain scenes where his character has to be vulnerable.

Speaking about All Creatures Great and Small, he said: “The show gives you these opportunities and you just want to grab it with both hands and really find the truth of it.

“Hopefully people watch it and feel something from it and recognise it. If that happens then it’s wonderful.”

Rachel Shenton

Former Hollyoaks star Rachel Shenton plays Helen Anderson, James Herriot's partner.

The actress is also known for playing Lily Summers in Switched at Birth, and Joanne Scott in White Gold.

However her biggest achievement was when Rachel won an Oscar for her short film, The Silent Child.

English actor and theatre director Samuel West plays Siegfried Farnon.

Viewers may recognise the star from ITV's Mr Selfridge, and also hit movie Notting Hill.

Speaking of his role as Siegfried, he told Channel 5: I should say that this is one of the things I'm most proud of.

“Not only to be working at a time when many of my friends aren't but to be doing such a great part in such an iconic story that means so much to people, not just in Yorkshire, but all over the world."

Anna Madeley

Anna Madeley plays Mrs Hall in All Creatures Great and Small.

And this isn't her first time on our screens, the actress has also appeared in a number of TV and film productions.

Her acting credits including In Bruges, Anatomy of a Scandal, and Silent Witness.

The Durrells star Callum Woodhouse is absent from All Creatures Great and Small this season.

This is because his character Tristan's been called up to fight in World war II.

What is the plot for All Creatures Great and Small?

Set in the Yorkshire Dales, this heartwarming series is based on the best-selling books by Alf Wight, whose pen name was James Herriot.

All Creatures Great and Small follows the life and work of veterinary surgeons, James Herriot and Sigfried Farnon, in the Dales.

Season 4 picks up in the 1940s, and James and Helen are now married.

Tristan is away serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, which prompts James and Siegfried to bring in some extra help to keep things ticking along. 

Where is All Creatures Great and Small filmed?

The show is filmed in the Yorkshire Dales, which is where All Creatures Great and Small is also set.

Some of the show was also shot in Arncliffe, the village used for some aspects of Skeldale House, and Yockenthwaite Farm.

A local pub The Devonshire was used as the exterior for fictional inn The Drovers Arms.

All Creatures Great and Small season 4 arrives on Channel 5 on October 5, 2023, at 9pm.

There are six new episodes for viewers to enjoy, which will air every Thursday at the same time – there will also be a Christmas special.
