Raising teenagers is tough, and even celebrity kids don’t get a break. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s daughter Charlotte turned 14 on Sept. 19, and she came up with the perfect way to embarrass her at the bus stop.
“If you want to embarrass your daughter on her bday — wear this to her bus stop on her birthday,” the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star wrote on her Instagram Story, per PEOPLE. She also shared a video of her outfit. She wore a black sweater with white pajama bottoms covered in pictures of Charlotte’s face and her 11-year-old son Rocky’s face. What could be more embarrassing than that? She is a mastermind!
Gellar, who shares Charlotte and Rocky with husband Freddie Prinze Jr., also decided to embarrass her son on his 11th birthday on Sept. 20 (hey, it’s only fair!). She posted a selfie on her Instagram Story where she is wearing a button-down pajama top with her kids’ faces on it that matches the pants she wore the day before. “Don’t worry… I embarrassed Rocky today on his birthday,” she quipped in her caption. We are making a note of this strategy. It’s so cringey, we love it!
The Do Revenge star also shared sweet tributes to her kids on her Instagram grid. She shared two throwback photos of Charlotte in one post with a heartfelt caption.
“They say daughters give you an equal number of wrinkles from smiling and worrying,” Gellar said. “Charlotte, from the day you were born, I smile bigger, laugh louder and love so much greater.”

She went on, “And as for the worrying, you are a part of me. One of the best parts of me. I love every inch of you (even the teenage part) I must be the luckiest person in the world, because you call me mom. Happy Birthday Charlotte. #happybirthday #14.”

And for Rocky, she wrote, “Rocky… from the moment you came racing into our life (we may still hold the record for fastest delivery at St John’s) you have made everything better and funnier.”

“Your laugh is infectious, your jokes are the best and your spirit is … EVERYTHING,” she continued. “You make every day brighter. Happy Birthday Rocky. Yes Siiiiiiiiirrrrrrr.” She also shared throwback photos of a young Rocky, who looks just like his dad.
The Wolf Pack star is no stranger to embarrassing her kids. In a Jan. 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Gellar revealed that Charlotte is mortified by her outfits at school pickup.
When asked about her latest fashion disaster, she said, “My daughter would say every time I pick her up at school.” Gellar continued, “I get dressed in the dark. Like right before this call, I realized I’ve been wearing my top inside out all morning. Nobody told me.”
Whether she’s intentionally embarrassing her kids or doing it on purpose, we love it! It’s a rite of passage — even if your parents are famous.
Celebrities — they’re just like us! Especially when it comes toembarrassing their kids.
