Michael Jordan’s game-worn 1992 ‘Dream Team’ jersey sells for $216K on night ‘The Last Dance’ premieres

An autographed "Dream Team" jersey worn by Michael Jordan during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics was sold for $216,000 on Sunday night in an auction, according to memorabilia company Robert Edward Auctions.

The jersey was the second-highest auction price for a Jordan jersey, according to the company's website. The bids started at $25,000 on April 7 and closed the night Jordan and the Bulls were in the national spotlight with the premiere of ESPN's "The Last Dance" documentary.

"Michael Jordan is arguably the most iconic athlete of all-time, winning six NBA titles and two Olympic Gold medals," Robert Edward Auctions president Brian Dwyer said in a statement. "Collectors relished a rare opportunity to own Jordan's jersey from the 1992 Dream Team – the greatest basketball team ever assembled."

According to the description on the auction's website, the jersey was signed by Jordan with a Sharpie, "Best Wishes/Michael Jordan." It was purchased in September 1992 for $17,500 and all the money was donated to The Michael Jordan Foundation at the time. It includes a copy of the original auction invoice.

The white, mesh No. 9 jersey last appeared in public auction during a spring 2013 sale during which it sold for $53,325. The jersey, according to Robert Edward Auctions, was worn by Jordan in games vs. Argentina, Lithuania, and Canada, and in the gold medal game against Croatia.

The 1992 "Dream Team" is considered by many basketball minds as perhaps the greatest basketball team ever assembled, with Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and several Hall of Famers on the roster.
