Linda Nolan death hoax leaves fans devastated as sisters forced to speak out

A radio DJ mistakenly paid tribute to the "late" Linda Nolan earlier today, forcing her devastated family to deny her death.

The Mid-Sussex radio presenter posted that he was "so sad" to see the Irish singer had passed away amid her gruelling battle with cancer.

Linda, 64, confirmed recently that her brain tumour was terminal and she has bought a wheelchair to prepare for the times ahead.

The tweet, from Tony Airey, read: "So sad to read that @LindaNolan_ has died I have so many memories seeing the Nolans at concerts I still have a signed photo from 83 Crawley Sports Centre West Sussex loved playing their music on my mobile disco & hospital radio crawley sending condolences to family R.I.P Linda."

Linda is still very much alive though and the Nolans were forced to issue a counter-tweet confirming their sister was "absolutely not dead".

The band tweeted: "Just over 20 minutes since this was tweeted and the sheer volume of calls we’ve received because of this."

Fans were quick to blast the DJ, calling him "a disgrace" and demanding he delete the post. It has now been taken down.

However, there is no indication that he knew he had been hoaxed about Linda's death.

Linda was diagnosed with cancer six years ago and has said she fears her life is now a "one-way trip" after the disease spread to her brain.

But she is hopeful a new "wonder drug" will give her more time.

Linda told Woman magazine: "I’ve had radiotherapy and soon I’ll be starting a drug for brain tumours, which is being hailed as a wonder drug – alongside another chemo drug.

"When I was on chemo in 2020 I stayed on it until I couldn’t handle it. So if it’s working, we’ll go with it. Anything that’ll give me time."

She added: "They keep telling me not to compare myself to Bernie, because ten years have gone by and they didn’t have these drugs then."

Linda's sister Bernie Nolan passed away from breast cancer back in 2013 aged 52.
