Im A Celebs Simon Gregson’s family heartache after wife suffered 12 devastating miscarriages

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has entered the I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! castle, alongside fellow soap star Adam Woodyatt.

Simon, 47, will no doubt be missing his wife Emma and their three children, Henry, Alfie, and Harry.

The soap star and his wife tied the knot back in 2010 and have remained loved-up ever since.

However, they've definitely endured their fair share of heartache over the years.

Emma has suffered 12 devastating miscarriages, and in 2018 revealed she also suffered an ectopic pregnancy.

While they have welcomed three healthy children together, throughout the years they have endured unimaginable heartbreak.

Emma had suffered a ruptured ectopic pregnancy back in 2017, which left Simon rushing her to he hospital in the middle of the night after she was experiencing excruciating stomach pains.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the couple were told the upsetting news, and she was given emergency surgery.

Emma previously told OK!: "Up to that point we didn’t know I was pregnant so it came as a double blow to us. It was hard to get our heads around what was happening.

"I was petrified. I thought I was never going to see my sons ever again. As they were taking me down to theatre I just kept thinking, I’m going to die – this is it, I’m not going to make it.

"As they were prepping me for surgery I had to keep signing lots of forms. I just felt devastated and so overwhelmed. It was the most frightening time I’ve ever had."

The life-saving surgery was performed in the middle of the night, and thankfully it was just in time.

Simon told how it was a matter of life or death, explaining: "They told me Emma would’ve died if it had been left for a few more hours. She was literally two hours away from death."

The horrifying ordeal left the couple wanting to raise awareness of ectopic pregnancies, as Emma revealed she didn't know much about it at all prior to experiencing it.

Emma previously told OK!: "The stigma has been removed from having miscarriages, but ectopic pregnancy isn’t discussed enough – I didn’t really know anything about it. The more you talk, the more you can help other people and spot the signs. It’s such a dangerous condition."

While the couple originally hoped to maybe try for a baby girl one day after welcoming three sons, they announced in 2018 that they had now decided that no more children were on the cards.

Speaking about the decision, Simon explained: "I think as Emma has come so close to death, that’s it for us. We originally thought Emma couldn’t carry girls, but she so desperately wanted a little girl.

"I would love her to have one – but now, after nearly losing her, I’m going in and having the snip."

Emma described the heartache she experienced throughout suffering multiple losses, saying: "Every time I found out I was pregnant,I never felt joyous. I would just fear the worst. I don’t think my mind or body could do it any more."

Simon's Corrie character Steve was previously involved in a heartbreaking storyline in 2017, when he and wife Michelle, played by Kym Marsh, suffered the stillbirth of their baby at just 23 weeks.

It marked a hugely significant story for the two actors, as they had both dealt with losing babies themselves in real life.

The storyline was praised for raising crucial awareness of the devastating effects of losing a baby, and it prompted many viewers to seek help from charities having watched the storyline play out.
