Halloween decorations spark backlash for being ‘too realistic’ – with people saying they’d call 999 if they saw them
- The lifelike orange blaze has alarmed social media users and provoked backlash
Some people love going all out for Halloween and draping their homes in fake blood and ‘do not enter’ signs.
However, is it possible to go too far with the spooky decor?
A German man’s ‘realistic’ Halloween decorations have sparked backlash on social media, with users saying they would ‘call 999 if they walked past’.
The video by @mvxngg is captioned ‘Halloween decor! I did these windows with a bedroom sheet, 2 lights and a fan’.
It zooms in on his house that he made look like was on fire a little too well, before revealing what the set up was actually like on the inside.

The lifelike orange blaze alarmed commenters and has provoked backlash as the video has been shared by multiple different accounts.
On one re-post, the video has been seen by a staggering 28.9 million people, meanwhile the original video has reached 21,400 views.
Some people loved it, writing ‘Best Halloween decorations I’ve ever seen!’ and ‘That’s actually pretty cool’.
However, most users were quick to slam the choice – one viewer said ‘nothing to do with Halloween. and how many calls the the emergency services will there be wasting there time’.
Others added ‘This looks too realistic’ and ‘I’m sorry but this just has no *HALLOWEEN* in it’.
Someone else questioned ‘Do u have to let the fire depot know prior just to avoid calls? So real’.
Some people thought it was dangerous for the decorator himself, in case his house actually does catch fire.
One user said ‘When the house really catch on fire the 911 caller gonna be told it’s just halloween decorations’ and another added ‘boy who cried wolf’.

Other worried users said ‘Love halloween decs etc but I dont like this that’s awful’ and ‘I would have been calling 999 if I’d walked past!!’
It comes just after a South-Carolina mother who is ‘obsessed’ with Halloween, opted to remove her ‘morbid’ decorations after her neighbour’s dad was diagnosed with lung cancer.
The video amassed over 1.2 million views and the TikToker was praised for her kindness after taking down her graveyard scene, which featured skeletons holding a casket and cardboard tombstones.
Earlier this month, a lawn caretaker actually mowed around a real dead body on because they thought it was a spooky Halloween decoration, family members of the deceased confirmed.
The half-naked dead body of Robert Paul Owens, 34, was found lying face down outside a deserted house in China Grove, North Carolina.
A lawn-care employee discovered the body but didn’t report the finding because they thought it was a spooky Halloween prop.
