Gmail is down across the UK today, according to the hundreds of reports from email users. Laptop and desktop users who use third-party email clients, including Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail, have taken to social media to complain about issues sending and receiving emails. As millions of people to stay home to work during the ongoing public health crisis, the outage could cause a huge amount of upset – with missed correspondence.
According to independent website DownDetector, which tracks outages with online services and web apps by keeping tabs of mentions on social media, hundreds of Gmail users across the UK are struggling to access their email at the moment.
DownDetector data shows that users first struggled to login and access emails from 11am. At its peak, some 741 users were unable to send or receive emails using Gmail online or within Outlook or Mail on their PCs, smartphones and tablets. According to the data drawn from social media, some 77 percent of all users are experiencing issues logging into Gmail.
Users have flooded Twitter to complain. However, Google has yet to respond to the growing number of voices complaining of the issues.
