When is Black Friday 2021?

Black Friday takes place on November 26 this year – as ever, that's the day after American Thanksgiving.

Black Friday is a tradition that's been going strong for decades over in the States, but has skyrocketed in popularity in the last few years in the UK.

But if there's one thing you should bear in mind, it's that you shouldn't wait until Black Friday itself to start searching for deals and special offers.

With so many retailers participating, many try and get a head start by kicking off their sales that bit earlier.

It's not been unusual in recent years to see brands and stores roll out deals as early as the beginning of November.

However, these are usually simply teasers ahead of the main action during Black Friday week (commencing November 22 2021), when the very best price drops usually appear online.

When is Cyber Monday 2021?

As you would probably guess, Cyber Monday falls on the other side of the weekend directly following Black Friday – so this year, that's 29 November.

The name is a little obsolete these days: originally Cyber Monday was positioned as an 'online-only' event, in contrast to the in-store shopping of Black Friday itself.

But online shopping has boomed in the last few years – especially since the Covid pandemic has kept everyone at home – so in reality, there's very little difference between Cyber Monday and Black Friday.

It's a day when you'll find a final wave of deals appear online, but if you've already seen something you're interested in, our advice is not to wait to see if it improves when Cyber Monday comes around.

Who will have the best Black Friday tech deals?

You'll find plenty of retailers offering tech deals during the Black Friday period, but when it comes to the strongest price drops on the most sought-after items, things will likely boil down to a handful of sellers.

Here's a list of all the retailers most likely (in fact, all but guaranteed) to offer the best Black Friday deals:

  • Affordable Mobiles – shop here
  • Amazon – shop here
  • AO.com – shop here
  • Argos – shop here
  • Carphone Warehouse – shop here
  • Currys PC World – shop here
  • eBay – shop here
  • GAME – shop here
  • John Lewis – shop here
  • Mobiles.co.uk – shop here
  • Samsung – shop here
  • Very – shop here

One thing to note is that these retailers tend to ruthlessly price-match one another during Black Friday, and sometimes undercutting each other buy as little as £1.

This is good news for shoppers, since if a discounted product sells out on one retailer site, it might easily be available for the same amount somewhere else.

How to find the best Black Friday technology deals

Make sure you do your homework ahead of Black Friday – and read guides like ours!

Get a good sense of which products you're after, how they're priced currently by different retailers, and what sort of deal you should be aiming for come the sales day.

Have a think about what works best for you, whether it's a straight discount or a great bundle.

Remember that you're unlikely to get the biggest saving on very recent tech, but going just one generation older will yield massive price drops – and will likely work brilliantly still.

What tech deals should I look out for on Black Friday?

Here's our two cents on what tech deals are likely to figure highly during Black Friday 2021.

Since the iPhone 13 is getting released in September, the arrival of the new flagship will almost certainly have a knock-on effect on its predecessor, the iPhone 12.

You can expect tariff costs across the iPhone 12 to tumble come Black Friday, and the SIM-free handset will probably be reduced as well.

On top of that, with the Nintendo Switch OLED model due to hit shelves in October, we imagine there will be lots of deals on the old Nintendo Switch model and various bundles, with games included.

Also, since there's a new Apple Watch and Airpods due to land before November, we're confident that prices will fall on the Apple Watch Series 6 and 2019 Airpods.
