Ray Liotta died in May last year at the age of 67 and it has now been confirmed the cause was acute heart failure and fluid in the lungs.
This is medically known as pulmonary edema, with the Goodfellas actor also suffering from atherosclerosis, which is a narrowing of the arteries.
In documents obtained by TMZ, doctors said the manner of death was natural and due to nonviolent respiratory insufficiency, pulmonary edema and acute heart failure.
It was announced almost 12 months ago that he had died in his sleep at Casas del XVI in Zona Colonial Hotel in the Dominican Republic.
The Hollywood legend had been filming a new movie, and died just weeks after filming had started for Dangerous Waters.
An emergency team rushed to the building however he could not be saved, and his body was transferred to the forensic institute of Santo Domingo.
The actor had been last pictured out and about in LA in March 2022 with sources claiming Ray appeared “noticeably pale” and “needed help from the valet putting on his jacket”.
The source added that Ray was “slow and steady on his feet” with his wife-to-be helping him carry his bags to the hotel.
