A statement announcing his death reads: "The Princely House regrets to announce that H.S.H. Prince Constantin von und zu Liechtenstein passed away unexpectedly on 5 December 2023.
"Prince Constantin was the youngest son of Prince Hans-Adam II. He leaves behind his wife, Princess Marie of Liechtenstein, nee Countess Kalnoky of Korospatak, and his children Prince Moritz, Princess Georgina and Prince Benedikt.
"Prince Constantin was chairman of the supervisory board of Liechtenstein Group AG and a member of Board of Directors of Liechtenstein Group Holding AG."
In a statement responding to the tragic news the Liechtenstein Group said: “His death comes as a terrible shock to all those who knew him, and the Liechtenstein Group is in deep mourning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his widow Princess Marie von und zu Liechtenstein, and their children Moritz, Georgina, and Benedikt."
Prince Constantin and Princess Marie tied the knot in 1999 and have three children; Prince Moritz, Princess Georgina and Prince Benedikt.
Marie, 48, a former marketing executive, once worked as a sommelier for The Prince of Liechtenstein's Winery Cellars.
Meanwhile, Constantin had roles at Raiffeisen Private Equity Management and the American investment bank Brown Brothers Harriman, before becoming the managing partner of Grunwald Equity Beteiligungs-GmbH until 2011.
Liechtenstein is set to enter two days of national mourning, and all public buildings will fly Liechtenstein’s national colours and the colours of the Princely House until 8th December.
After the news broke on Wednesday the principality's state parliament observed a minute's silence.
Following which Bishop Benno Elbs paid tribute to the late Prince, as he said: "It was with great sadness that I learned today of the death of Prince Constantin of Liechtenstein.
"On behalf of the Archdiocese of Vaduz, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to Prince Hans-Adam II, the wife of the deceased, Princess Marie, and their children Prince Moritz, Princess Georgina and Prince Benedikt. I join them and the entire royal family in mourning and praying for the deceased."
