Country star Maren Morris has shared two previously unreleased songs, “Takes Two” and “Just For Now.”
“GIRL has been out over a year & has been one of the most transformative periods of my life. During this time off the road, I had the opportunity to polish up 2 older songs of mine that I couldn’t wait for you to hear,” Morris tweeted.
“What’ve you done with yourself? / ‘Cause I can’t look away … Keep on blamin’ myself / ‘Cause I’ve got no restraint,” Morris sings in the first verse of “Takes Two.” “Don’t leave the door open, ’cause we’re not gonna move / Yeah, you know you’re not leavin’ / I’m not leavin’ without you.”
“Takes Two” is an unreleased track from the recording sessions for Morris’ sophomore album, Girl. Morris co-penned the song with Sarah Aarons and Greg Kurstin.
“Just for Now” was written by Morris with her husband Ryan Hurd and late collaborator Busbee. It was recorded during the sessions for her debut album, Hero.
“You don’t have to be the answer to a question that’s gonna change my life,” she sings in the track.
Morris had to postpone her 2020 RSVP: The Tour to next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“In tears writing this but given these unprecedented circumstances, I’ve decided to postpone RSVP: The Tour to 2021,” she wrote on social media. “These months have been a rolling wave of uncertainty, hope & reality. Let’s do this at the right time when we can all be together again.”
