Monday night’s opening episode of Love Island has left fans confused as to why the girls failed to step forward for Hugo and Toby during the first coupling.
Despite his sporty confidence as he made his grand entrance into the Spanish villa, Hugo Hammond was given a cold reception by the five lucky ladies.
As millions of fans tuned in for the first episode of the series, after being left furious after ITV Hub crashed before the show aired, some shared their disappointment after Hampshire hunk Hugo was rejected on air, but chose to couple up with Faye Winter.
One user wrote: "I feel so bad for Hugo when he got rejected and went to the subs bench I felt that pain #LoveIsland".
Another agreed: “Nahhh it’s so awks when no one steps forward. I’d legit have to leave if that happened to me.”
A third chimed: “Poor Hugo I would of deffo stepped forward.”
But it wasn’t just Hugo who was rejected by the single ladies, as Toby Aromolaran wasn’t favoured by the girls either.

Although Toby walked in with a lot of confidence and cheeky banter, the girls didn't appear impressed.
Despite not being a favourite right away, Toby kicked Hugo to the subs bench as he coupled up with Faye and brushed off the rejection.
However, the P.E teacher wasn’t on his own for long, as Faye changed partners again once Brad McClelland walked in and pushed Toby over to the subs bench with his wounded friend.
Some fans backed Toby and shared their hopes for him to find love after his initial rejection.
One viewer added: “Man the girls have covid since they have no taste … you telling me no one stepped forward for Toby?? #LoveIsland”.
Echoing similar sentiments, another user chimed: “naur I’d actually jump off a cliff if no one stepped forward for me, like idk how toby and hugo handled it #LoveIsland”
As a result, Hugo was left to partner up with Sharon Gaffka and Toby was paired up with Kaz Kamwi.
Whether the new couples will flourish into a romantic relationship is yet to be seen, but the boys are looking forward to a fun-filled week in the villa.
Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm every evening, except Saturdays
