Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty To Illegal Gun Possession Charge

Rapper Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, has pled guilty to the federal charges against him for illegal possession of a firearm.

The 38-year-old faces up to 10 years in federal prison for the crime, which has been classified as a federal offence owing to the fact that Carter is a previous felony offender and served 8 months in prison in 2009-10.

Carter was found to be in possession of a loaded gold-plated .45-caliber handgun when he flew into the Opa Locka Executive Airport in Miami on a private flight in December 2019.

“The charge is that because he was convicted of a felony in the past, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm,” said attorney Howard Srebnick.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 28, 2021.
