NTAs: Lee Mack makes Jill Scott ‘joke’
Lee Mack doesn’t seem fazed after his cheeky joke about I’m A Celebrity winner Jill Scott prompted some fans to say he should be “cancelled”.
Jill was presenting the National Television Award for Best Quiz Game Show, which was won by Lee’s The 1% Club.
After taking to the stage to pick up his statue, Lee quipped: “To receive a sex toy like this off Jill Scott is an absolute delight and pleasure.”
Speaking after the show, the 55-year-old took a swipe at TV viewers who may be “offended” by his jokes.
He said: “My job as a stand-up comedian is to take the mickey out of the contestants. I decided never to be too cheesy with it. I just wanted to try to have a bit of a laugh…

“The audience really can take it, you can take the mickey out of them. It’s the people who are watching who get offended, not the audience. They’re always OK about it,” he added to The Sun.
On Tuesday, some ITV viewers took to social media to criticise Lee after his joke didn’t land well.
Alex wrote: “Well Lee Mack is gonna get cancelled now #NTAs.”
Another added: “Watching Lee Mack trying to be funny is just painful #NTAs.”

Many others disagreed though and found his acceptance speech “hilarious”.
Carol penned: “Just been watching some @LeeMack. He’s absolutely hilarious! Can’t wait to watch more.”
And Sharon echoed: “Lee Mack take a bow that was an ace speech especially the microphone one #NTAs.”
The 1% Club beat Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, Richard Osman’s House of Games and The Chase Celebrity Special for the coveted NTA.
Other big winners on the night included Sarah Lancashire who swept the board with three accolades.
She won Best Drama Performance for her portrayal of Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley. The BBC drama also won Best Returning Drama.
Emotions were high when the former Coronation Street star was awarded the gong for Special Recognition by Sir Ian McKellen.
Meanwhile, This Morning lost the Daytime award for the first time in 12 years to BBC’s The Repair Shop.
