KSI has opened up about finding global fame and becoming one of the most recognised influencers in the world.
The Youtube star, 30, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning, 22 August, to discuss everything from being an influencer to his boxing career, and revealed how he stays grounded despite his success.
Hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley asked KSI, real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, how he deals with his huge level of fame, prompting him to admit he aims to keep many parts of his life private including his relationship.
“For me, I keep my private things very, very private. I have a girlfriend and she’s very private, we keep things quiet," the rapper explained.
“Whenever I spend time with her, it’s all about her. Even with my family, I like to do things privately and it’s just making sure that whenever I need to be out in the public eye, I do that and whenever I need to be private, I keep things private and separate."
He went on to add that he sees himself as a "normal guy", saying: “Friends and family, they all just ground me. They always make fun of me, they always tell me ‘You might be doing this, but you're still just a normal guy’… I see myself as a normal guy, who has been thrown into these crazy situations.”
KSI, who kickstarted his career on YouTube, also spoke about his boxing career ahead of his fight against Tommy Fury which is set to take place in Manchester in October.
The 30 year old admitted he'd never considered taking up boxing and had "never fought" in his life up until he faced fellow YouTuber Joe Weller in the ring in 2018.
“It kind of started as a joke. It started with me just calling out a guy called Joe Weller, he was one of the first guys doing this whole boxing thing. I called him out as a joke being like ‘Oh, I’ll fight you after you fight this other guy’ and he [Joe] won his fight, then called me out!
“I was like ‘Oh no way, I don’t actually wanna fight, I’ve never fought in my life’… To be put in the ring was just the worst thing I could ever think of," KSI admitted.
He added: “I kind of just went for it and just enjoyed it, kept going. I kept winning and all of a sudden I’m now fighting Tommy Fury who is a professional boxer. This is a proper fight, me and him are going at it.”
MF & DAZN: X Series – The Prime Card will take place on 14 October at Manchester Arena with KSI facing ex-Love Islander and professional boxer Tommy, 24.
