It appeared Stranger Things’ Joe Keery was the victim of a vile Twitter hack, with fans airing their concerns as a barrage of troubling messages appears on his social media this week.
Followers of the Steve Harrington star believe his account was hijacked as the seldom-used handle was flooded with racist and problematic messages on Morning morning.
Seemingly the work of the infamous Chuckling Squad – a hacking group who once managed to hack the account of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey – according to several of the posts, fans began reacting as they started seeing the out-of-character statements from the actor.
From claiming he was ‘molested’ on the set of Stranger Things to hurling racist insults at other Twitter users, his account remained under attack for hours.
In other posts, the hackers also took aim at Joe’s Stranger Things co-stars, including Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo.
One tweet also read: ‘I Have Corona Virus, I’m Going To Meet Juice WRLD Now.’
Being the middle of the night in the US where Joe is based at the time of the hack, fans were shouting from cross the seas for the star to wake up as they reacted on social media.
While his Twitter remained in the hands of the hackers, it appeared his Instagram was left untouched.
At the time of writing, Joe is yet to publicly comment on the hack and many of the offensive tweets remain on his feed.
