Halle Berry forced to shave back of daughter's head after chlorine damage

Halle Berry has revealed she was forced to shave the back of her 12-year-old daughter’s hair due to it suffering chlorine damage.

The actress explained that her daughter Nahla had been going for daily swimming sessions in their pool amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Chatting to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Halle said: ‘Every day we’re swimming, we get out of the pool, My daughter’s 12 and so every time I got to comb her hair she’s like “No don’t touch me, I can handle it, I’m a tween, don’t brush my hair.”‘

She added: ‘Two nights ago, We’re doing her homework and [Nahla] goes, “Mom, I’m scared to tell you this, but touch the back of my head.”

‘All her hair, which is past her shoulders, has shrunken up into a tight ball that feels like matted fur. I can’t even get my finger in it, and I’m pulling and she’s screaming.’

The 53-year-old explained that she tried to help by conditioning her daughter’s hair and combing it through, but ended up having to shave part of it off.

With Jimmy asking if Nahla was okay with it, Halle pointed out: ‘She was not cool with that, but it was our only option. But now she gets it.

‘I was like, “First of all, maybe you’ll let your mother help you. And second of all, you learned you gotta brush your hair. Every day, you gotta brush your hair.”‘

Sounds like Nahla is definitely going to be listening to her mum after this.

During her appearance on the show, Halle also revealed that Pierce Brosnan stopped her from choking during a scene for 007 movie Die Another Day.

Reminiscing about making the 2002 film, Halle told talk show host Jimmy : ‘I was supposed to be all sexy, trying to seduce him with a fig, and then I end up choking on it and he had to get up and do the Heimlich.

‘James Bond knows how to Heimlich! He was there for me, he will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world.’
