It comes after a source had claimed to the Daily Star of Amanda’s exit: “The schedule is very gruelling and after a series of setbacks on the show she has simply decided, with regret, that it’s the right thing to do.”
Last week, Strictly: It Takes Two host Janette Manrara confirmed that Amanda would not be able to appear on Saturday’s live show due to medical reasons.
Fans had been hoping the dancing duo could have made a comeback for Halloween Week this weekend, but it was announced during tonight’s episode of It Takes Two that this wouldn’t be the case.
In a statement read out on the BBC Two show, Fleur East said: “Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future.”
Fleur then showed Amanda and Giovanni’s best bits on the dance floor, before sending her own well wishes to the star.
Last Friday, Fleur’s co-host Janette had informed It Takes Two viewers: “We have some breaking news, unfortunately due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week.
“Amanda we hope you get well soon my love, sending you all the best wishes!”
