Dolly Parton shared an Easter message urging her fans to celebrate the feast regardless of the coronavirus lockdown.
“Happy Easter, everybody. A little different this year, huh?” the country music legend said in a video posted on social media. “I know everybody loves to get all dressed up in their beautiful dresses, their hats and fancy shoes, go to church, be with all your friends, and that’s all wonderful, we all love doing that every year.”
“The kids all love getting out, hiding Easter eggs and all that with their friends. Well, this year, we’re gonna kinda stay around the house a little bit, right? But that doesn’t mean we can’t worship in the same way that we should,” Parton added.
The 74-year-old singer advised her fans that it is not necessary to visit church to practice their religion, because “the kingdom of Heaven is within.”
Parton also shared a soulful rendition of the song “He’s Alive,” which recounts the resurrection from the perspective of disciple Peter.
