Beyoncé Urges Fans To ‘Stay Focused’ After All Four Officers Charged In Floyd’s Death

Beyoncé has urged protesters to “stay focused” after all former Minneapolis police officers involved in the tragic death of George Floyd were charged with crimes.

“The world came together for George Floyd. We know there is a long road ahead,” she wrote alongside a picture of an aerial shot of a mass protest in Minneapolis. “Let’s remain aligned and focused in our call for real justice.”

The post from Beyoncé comes after Derek Chauvin, who pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, was charged with a new, more serious count of second-degree murder.

The three other officers on scene during Floyd’s killing were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

Beyoncé previously released a video demanding justice for Floyd, who died on Memorial Day during the course of a brutal arrest by the officers.

“We’re broken and we’re disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain,” the singer began in a short video clip posted to Instagram, a platform on which she has nearly 148 million followers.

“I’m not only speaking to people of color. If you’re white, black, brown, or anything in-between, I’m sure you feel hopeless about the racism going on in America right now,” she continued. “No more senseless killings of human beings. No more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away.”
