The One Show hosts Alex Scott, 35, and Alex Jones, 43, showed viewers a segment based on virtual dating in lockdown on the show this evening. Viewers got an insight into three pairs who had been getting to know each other over video call.

I’ve only ever had one blind date in my whole life, I’m too nervous

Following the VT, Alex S told viewers one of the couples had agreed to schedule another date.

Alex J also seemed impressed by how well all three pairs seemed to be getting along.

She then asked Alex if she would ever consider virtual dating.

Seemingly taken aback by the question, Alex replied: “I think I’d be too awkward.”

“You wouldn’t!” her co-star exclaimed.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star went on to reveal: “I’ve only ever had one blind date in my whole life, I’m too nervous.”

Alex J then suggested she could “make soup” or learn to speak Spanish with someone else online.

Stunned by her response, Alex laughed: “Vegetable soup? That’s probably why I’m struggling.”

Alex J swiftly moved the conversation on and caught up with The Saturdays star Frankie Bridge via video call.

During an episode last month, Alex S was also stunned to learn another factor about virtual dating.

The host looked on as guests Angela Scanlon and comedian Joe Lycett tried out virtual dating to inspire others.

The pair were seen discussing the likes of house plants as part of their conversation.

Following this, Alex asked Joe and Angela: “I think that’s where I’m going wrong!

“Do I need to talk about plants when I go on a date?”

Angela nodded and replied: “It’s wholesome,” while Joe added: “Yeah, maybe!”

Alex confirmed she is single last year when she was linked to her newly single Strictly Come Dancing Neil Jones.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, he said: “I’m single but it’s not like I need to find someone.

“I like things to happen organically and if someone comes into my life and we get on, then great. It’s not like I need to go searching for it.”

Neil, who split with Katya Jones last year, added: “There’s nothing on our minds but the show – we don’t have time to think about anything else.

“I’m single but I haven’t even thought about dating. Coming out of a long-term relationship I’m just focusing on Strictly.”

The One Show airs tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
