King Charles and Queen Camilla 'deeply touched' by Britain's celebration of coronation | The Sun

KING Charles and Queen Camilla today said they were "deeply touched" by Britain's celebration of their historic coronation.

The newly-crowned monarchs branded the day "glorious" as they thanked their supporters.

More than 18million Brits tuned in to watch Charles and Camilla formally become King and Queen in a landmark ceremony yesterday.

The couple rounded off the day with an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony as thousands of fans cheered them from below.

A Palace spokesperson said: "Their Majesties were deeply touched by the events of yesterday and profoundly grateful both to all those who helped to make it such a glorious occasion – and to the very many who turned out to show their support in such numbers in London and further afield."

The coronation festivities are continuing today with Big Lunches being held across the country.

Prince William and Princess Kate delighted fans in Windsor on a surprise walkabout.

The couple spoke with hundreds of people who are queuing ahead of tonight's star-studded concert at Windsor Castle.

They will join Charles and Camilla and 20,000 members of the public to see acts including Take That, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie perform.

Singers Perry and Richie were among the stars at Saturday's coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey.

Thousands of street parties are also being held up and down the country as the celebration continues.

More than 3,700 lunch events are taking place, with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh due to attend one in Cranleigh, Surrey.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are planning to visit a Big Lunch in Windsor.
